Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to thank you for your support in ensuring that students continue to attend the academy every day looking smart in their uniform and with the equipment that they need.
Since we returned in September we have already had some wonderful events including our MacMillan Coffee afternoon, Y11 Success evening and our Year 6 Open Evening to name a few. A huge thanks to our Student Voice team for their incredible support and organisation in relation to our internal events.
Standards have been exceptional in the academy. Thank you for ensuring that our students, your children, continue to wear our uniform correctly. We will continue to check uniforms each day, making sure that our policy is being up-held and ensuring that our students look as smart as possible. In particular, we would like your support in ensuring that skirts are worn appropriately and are not rolled over or under at the waistband or tied with an elastic band or bobble at the back; skirts must be a minimum of 18 inches in length. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that jewellery is not permitted to be worn, the only item of jewellery that may be worn is a wristwatch or Medic Alert item. This includes jewellery retainers.
We endeavour to support students as much as possible with uniform loans and I would be grateful if you could promptly return any items of uniform that have been borrowed.
Excellent attendance at the academy remains an absolute priority. To support all our students we launch this half term our ‘IAT’ attendance strategy, ‘Improving attendance together’ and a praise and reward system linked to attendance ‘Battle of the Bands’. With clear links between attendance, attainment and behaviour, as an inclusive school, we aim to remove barriers to learning and continue to promote high standards and the fulfilment of potential for all pupils. Your support is important and incredibly valued as we continue to drive standards and raise our expectations for your children.
I am incredibly appreciative of your continued support.
Yours faithfully,
Alison McQueen
Principal
