I am writing to inform you that your child will begin their second round of Year 11 mock exams after the February half term. The exam period will start on Friday 28 February and end on Friday 14 March. This will be the final opportunity for students to practice before their live GCSE exams. Any student absent for an exam will be required to take the missed exam during a 'catch up' session. Your child will have exams in most, if not all, of their GCSE subjects during this period. The exam timetable is attached to this letter and a hard copy will be given to students.
As you know, our staff have been running after-school sessions in English, Maths, and Science since the start of the year. These sessions will continue until the summer GCSE exams. Attending these sessions and taking advantage of every available opportunity will greatly support your child in achieving their best possible grades.
As we continue to work together to ensure the best possible outcomes for your child this summer, we ask that you reinforce the importance of the following:
Excellent attendance - Students who miss exams due to absence will be required to complete them at a later date and may miss curriculum time.
Excellent conduct and effort in all exams - Students were exemplary during the November assessments and we are confident that this will continue into the next round of exams.
I am incredibly proud of the dedication that the Class of 2025 is showing in their final year at Shafton. I look forward to working with you over the coming months to secure fantastic GCSE results for your child and celebrate their achievements together this summer.
Yours faithfully,
Josh Bray
Associate Assistant Principal
