Dear Parents and Carers,
Your child may have come home from school this afternoon and informed you that there is an issue with the roof of the school. I can confirm that only one of the glass panels in the reception atrium roof has shattered; the panel is still in place but obviously, there is a concern that this may not be safe. We have experts on site assessing the situation.
We have closed off the main Reception side of the building and, as such, we now have limited access and rooms available in one half of the school.
After speaking with the local authority, our premises provider, Amey and the Trust, I have made the very difficult decision to close the academy tomorrow to all year groups except Year 11.
Year 11 should attend school as normal tomorrow via their normal entrance. Year 11 students will follow their normal timetable but will be re-roomed to different classrooms in one half of the building. All rooming information will be shared with Year 11 students in the morning. With Y11 exams fast approaching it is vital that Y11 students attend as normal.
For all other year groups, work will be available on google classroom.
I appreciate how frustrating this may be for parents, as it is for us, but I know that you will understand that the health and safety of students and staff has to be the main consideration when making decisions like this.
Thank you for your understanding; I will update you again as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
Alison McQueen
