22 June 2021
Dear Parent/Carer,
The last 15 months have been incredibly tough for all of us, but we’re so proud of how our students have managed. As parents and carers, you’ve also had your lives turned upside down, and we’re so grateful for all of your efforts at home.
You may have seen on our social media that we have been celebrating Pride Month. As well as taking the opportunity to be part of something positive, we have been using Pride Month as a learning opportunity. We have been exploring the issues facing our young people in the academy and across the wider community.
On Friday 25 June 2021, students and staff are invited to attend the Academy wearing a brightly coloured top or accessory. It is hoped that most, if not all students will get involved in the spirit of the day. All other uniform rules still apply as normal. This is not a non-uniform day.
Please take some time to discuss the importance of maintaining excellent standards of behaviour as always with your child; nothing changes in this respect. If the students make this a success, it means events such as this are far more likely to be approved in the future. Some of the anticipated 'Frequently Asked Questions' are addressed overleaf.
Yours sincerely,
Alison McQueen
Principal
