Dear Parents and Carers
Everyone has been working exceptionally hard during the pandemic and I thank everyone for their part in this. It is now timely to review the COVID-19 risk assessment for our academy. It is always our key priority to keep everyone safe and to follow SAGE’s system of controls and the integrity of our year group bubbles needs to be given due consideration by all. Our aim remains to reduce the number of close contacts should a positive case be confirmed. We have recently reviewed the systems of control to maximise the efficacy of the school day whilst still maintaining total compliance with the government guidance.
We have taken the decision that from Monday 5 July teachers, in the majority, will return to their subject classrooms.
What will change:
- Teachers will teach from their base classroom in their subject areas, allowing the use of subject specific resources and display materials
- Tutor bases for the rest of this academic year will move to the base room for that teacher
- All students will be asked to hand sanitise on entry to every classroom (students can choose to use either their own sanitiser or the one in every room)
- Teachers will meet and greet at the door for every lesson and support the supervision of students on corridors
What will remain the same:
- Sanitising of hands as we arrive at the academy
- Separate entrances and exits for year groups
- For the remaining weeks of this academic year, separate year group break and lunchtime with students sitting in one direction in the dining room
- Students will continue to sit facing the front of the classroom and will sit in the seating plan as instructed by the teacher
- Ventilation in classrooms will continue (windows open and doors when possible)
- Cleaning of high touch areas will continue (e.g. door handles, bannisters etc.)
- Promotion of catch it, bin it, kill it
- Our high expectations of standards and behaviour by all. Be safe, be respectful, be responsible
During form time this week a presentation has been shared with our students with all of this key information. This has provided us with the opportunity to look at timetables, remind ourselves of the one way system and reflect on our expectations of all in the academy. New timetables with rooming’s will commence from Monday 5 July.
The Inclusion team will be working with students with SEND to support them with this transition.
Our academy risk assessment has been updated and has been added to the website in preparation for the following week's changes. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
Yours faithfully,
Alison McQueen
