We want all students to live happy, active and healthy lifestyles. In order to promote this we have three very simple expectations in PE that are known as ‘non negotiables’, which are outlined in the graphic below. If a child fails to meet these expectations consistently it may be necessary to issue sanctions. The aim of this letter is to highlight these ‘non-negotiables’, but also to remove any potential barriers and enable a positive start in September.
I stress the importance of physical education and the benefits it can have on a young person's physical, mental and social health and we attempt to remove all barriers to participation, one of which might include lack of PE kit. To bring clarity on this, we have designed a PE kit policy which reads as follows; when requiring a kit, students should go to the laundry room with their planner, deposit the planner in the box and borrow the required items of the kit. At the end of the lesson, students return the kit and collect their planner.
1st offence - PE Kit Reminder Sticker in the student’s planner when an item of kit is missing
2nd offence - C4a detention
3rd offence - C4b detention - Including contact with home to support students and parents to overcome potential barriers to participation.
If your son or daughter is unable to take an active part in a lesson, they need to bring a note in their planner explaining the reason why they're unable to participate. Students should bring their PE kit to get changed into so that they can still play a part of the lesson, whether that be in a coaching or officiating capacity. We ask students to do this for hygiene reasons but also in case of inclement weather should the lesson be taking place outside.
New PE kit can be ordered through www.trutex.com, simply click on the 'register' button and enter our school code - LEA00655SC. If you require further support please don’t hesitate to contact me, or your child's PE teacher.
