Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to share with you our Christmas celebrations for December 2023.
During this month we are continuing our Kindness Challenge, giving students the opportunity to have their kind acts acknowledged and the opportunity to win a JUST EAT voucher to buy a lovely treat for the family.
Students will be able to enjoy their Christmas Lunch on Wednesday 20 December and Christmas Jumper Day on Wednesday 20 December and Thursday 21 December, students do not have to wear a Christmas jumper if they do not want to.
We continue to celebrate attendance, praise points and Proud Thursday throughout the festive period. During the final week of term we will be celebrating our ACE/ Honours winners in Y7 and our top praise points winners with Student Voice leading on these celebrations. Y11 will have their own personalised praise events including a trip to Meadowhall, for eligible students. On the final day of term, we will be sharing Praising Stars reports with students in a Christmas themed event during breaktime! A fantastic way to end the term.
This year we are hosting a Christmas movie night on the 19 December for Y7/8 and 20 December for Y9/10. This will run from 4-6pm. We have shared the following criteria with students to enable them to receive a golden ticket to the movie night:
- Great attendance
- 3 or less C4 detentions
- No suspensions or C5’s
- Praise points/ Proud Thursday logged
Golden tickets will be delivered on Friday 15 December so students are aware that they have met the criteria. We are excited that our Student Voice has worked with us and will be part of the organisation of this event.
We are proud of the praise system we have at Shafton, including the wide range of praise celebrations from praise points to Random Acts of Kindness, Principal Postcards to the Y11 Prom. We have shared our Praise Journey from Y7 -11 to summarise our different events.
The academy is proud to continue with our annual charity and community events including Cash for Kids Mission Christmas, AGE UK hampers for our local community and our senior citizens Christmas luncheon, all led by our Student Voice Charity Committee.
If you have any questions about our Praise Journey or the events we have planned for December, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely,
Sarah Riley
