We wanted to share with you some exciting news we have received over the last week which you may have seen on our social media.
Student Voice
We wanted to share with you the fantastic news that students and staff from Shafton’s Student Voice team have been chosen as the Votes for Schools Student Voice of the Year in the secondary category.
This is brilliant recognition of all the work of student leaders in the academy from supporting student reps in form time, the charity committee, the SV Leadership team, Anti Bullying, Prime Minister Election, Bee Kind campaigns, Subject Review student panels, PE Scholars, interview panels, charity and community events, as well as supporting at transition and careers events, OGAT conferences, enrichment and so much more!
Students remain at the heart of our Trust and Student Voice sits at the heart of our academy. Through student voice roles, young people take a part in the ongoing improvements in the academy be it environmental, charitable or focused on their learning.
‘Outwood Academy Shafton’s efforts to promote democracy is what stood out to the judges - as well as how students got involved in things like staff interviews! #studentvoiceawards #powerofyouthday @OGATrust’
