Letter to Parents: Personal Development

Dear Parents and Carers,
As a part of your child’s education at Outwood Academy Shafton, we promote personal well-being and development through a comprehensive personal development education programme. We are delighted to share with you some of the form time personal development opportunities including learning about different religious and cultural celebrations including Chinese and Buddhist New Year, Ramadan, Eid Al Fitr, Lent and Easter. During the coming weeks our students will be able to take part in another Kindness Challenge with over a 100 prizes and an Easter praise event, along with our Praising Stars celebration assemblies!
On Friday 21 March our Charity Committee will be hosting a cake sale after school in the atrium for any students who would like to donate towards the Comic Relief appeal. Students do need to bring a monetary donation if they would like to take part.

Our Student Voice team has been working extremely hard since Christmas. They have managed to secure funding towards first aid training for one year group and towards enrichment activities. This will take place in the summer term. During the second round of funding applications the students have been able to secure another successful amount! This time towards external providers, workshops and prizes to develop and celebrate students' confidence in speaking, ability to articulate ideas, develop understanding and engage with others. Ben, our Student Voice Prime Minister and his peers created an impactful video, commended by senior leaders across the trust. This was accompanied by a written bid to secure the funding and we are incredibly proud of all students involved!
