Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope your children have had a lovely restful break and we know they will now be raring to go for what is a shorter but extremely important summer term. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we gained reassurance on the safety of our roof. As we now have this from our glazier company we are excited to welcome back all students on Tuesday 22 April.
As always we will set our standards from the start of term; supporting students with uniforms, including ensuring no jewellery is worn in the academy. Skirts must always be worn at an appropriate length (to the knee or just above the knee) and planners and equipment should be available to ensure that students are ready to learn. We will be meeting and greeting students at the doors and taking the opportunity to set the tone for the day and this half term. We know the small things make a difference and as always appreciate the huge amount of support that you give your children. Students always look smart and are ready to engage in their curricular activities.
Our
Uniform Policy is linked and attached below for ease of reference.
Attendance in the academy is the best it has been in three years and we appreciate the huge amount of work from families supporting this. Attendance at school impacts on students' outcomes and we can clearly see the evidence of this with the amazing engagement of our current Y11 students.
A reminder that all students should be present in form time by 8:25 ready to learn. Our doors open everyday to welcome students for arrival at 8:15.
If students have medical appointments please, wherever possible, schedule these so that they can gain their morning mark and return to school as soon as possible to minimise any lost learning time.
This term is extremely important for our Y11 as they start their final exams. MFL speaking exams start as soon as we return on Tuesday. It is vital that every member of our school community supports our Y11 students. Our young people are always respectful and supportive throughout this time. These are our last few weeks to keep absolute momentum and support for our Y11 students preparing for their final exams. Senior leaders will be prioritising Y11 lessons. We will all take every opportunity to maximise on the teaching time we have left including interventions, enrichments, breakfasts, break and lunchtimes. A separate letter will be shared with the parents of our Y11 students with a breakdown of all the support available.
For Y9 students their graduation to Y10 and KS4 is very important. Please take every opportunity to discuss this with your child and we look forward to welcoming parents and the community to our celebration graduation events this term.
We will also welcome Y6 students to the academy this term to ease their transition to secondary, as we prepare for next academic year.
This last term of school is always exciting and busy. One filled with opportunities, possibilities and celebrations.
Thank you as always for your support.
Yours faithfully,
Alison McQueen
Principal
