Dear Parent/Carer
We are entering a hugely important and exciting time for our young people. As you will be aware, all Year 11 students begin their GCSE exams from the week commencing 15th May. Your child should already have received confirmation of all their individual exam dates and times and should be balancing their time preparing for exams at home as well as in the Academy.
Expectations
The Academy will be running as normal for our students during the exam period and therefore all Year 11 students are expected to continue to meet the Academy’s expectations. This includes wearing a full school uniform, not wearing any jewellery and being safe, respectful and responsible at all times. Failure to do this may jeopardise your child being able to complete all their upcoming exams in the academy and also could impact on them attending prom.
Every morning all students must be on time ready to enter the lecture theatre for their exam pre briefing by 8:15am everyday. Breakfast will be served free of charge from 8:00am in the dining hall.
Masterclasses and Exam timetable
Your child’s exam timetable is unique to them and aims to support them through the next 5 weeks. From Monday the 15th of May most Y11 will move on to their masterclass timetables to ensure them the best possible success in their exams. These are bespoke to their exams. All our key members of staff for Year 11 are here to help so please contact Mr Turner, Mr Bray or Mr Peel if you have any queries.
Celebrations
We are excited to celebrate the prom with you on the evening of Thursday 22nd June, at Burntwood Court Hotel and prom breakfast on the morning of Friday 23rd June. Parents are invited to see students enter at the prom at Burntwood and to attend prom breakfast in the Academy. We will send out more details nearer the time.
On Friday morning this week we are holding a special motivational ‘Do well’ assembly where our students will receive your personal inspirational messages, wishing them well.
Leaving date
In terms of a final leaving date we will hold shirt signing and celebrations with Y11 students and staff on the 15th of June at 2:30-3:30pm. After this date students will only need to return for their exams. Please remind your child to bring a spare shirt as they must have a clean one with no writing for any exams that follow this date.
We are exceptionally proud of our Y11 students. We wish them every success in all of their exams and look forward to seeing them for their first exam on Tuesday 16th May. This is their time to shine!
Yours Sincerely,
Joe Turner
