Dear Parents / Carers ,
On Wednesday 6 December 2023 we are fortunate to welcome Alison Cope, a multi award winning anti youth violence campaigner, into the academy to deliver a powerful and thought provoking assembly to Y8 & Y9 students.
Alison delivers age appropriate awareness sessions in schools and colleges across the UK, covering the links between social media and an increase in youth violence; she will share the reality and real life devastation that youth violence can have on families, using her own experiences.
The sessions are inspiring, thought provoking and reassure young people that knife crime is rare and there is always an alternative.
Alison helps to educate young people on the realities and consequences of youth violence. Her powerful presentations convey: the importance of prevention, the emotive realisation of how choices affect loved ones and how young people retain hope for the future.
If you feel you would like to discuss the assembly further or have any concerns regarding the content of the assembly- please contact
s.riley@shafton.outwood.com.
Students will be given more details nearer the time with regards to the timings of their assembly
Thank you, as always, for your support.
Yours sincerely,
Sarah Riley
Assistant Principal
