Yesterday was our first Maths exam. It was wonderful to see so many hard working and conscientious students in the dining hall yesterday morning before the exam for some last-minute hints and extra practice. It was also fantastic to see how many pupils joined us for virtual maths enrichment on Wednesday evening.
It was also fantastic to see so many happy students coming out of the exam feeling extremely confident and grateful that all of their hard work in lessons, attendance to revision and intervention sessions and the many hours of additional independent revision had paid off.
I would like to thank you for your ongoing support in encouraging your child to continue to work hard and to attend all possible intervention and revision sessions that are available. I would especially like to thank you for all of your support with the independent revision at home that we know is absolutely essential to achieving exam success.
As you will know there are still two more Maths exams remaining and it is really important that we all keep up the support and encouragement right up to the final exam. We still have some lesson time in school but due to other exams this time is limited, so attendance at after school Maths revision and the Maths revision day during half term and the following weekend will be so important in helping your child achieve the grade they are capable of.
Your child’s teacher will be providing more revision material in lessons to complete at home and we would still encourage students to bring in all completed revision material into school to be checked by their class teacher. There are lots of excellent online materials as well so nobody should be in a position where they have ‘run out’ of revision. Some of the suggested websites are below and there are many others available too.
I would also add that both remaining exams are calculator papers. It will be extremely beneficial if your child has a scientific calculator for completing independent revision at home.
